QUESTION

What is your definition of LOVE?....

How would you describe LOVE?...

What does LOVE mean to you?...

These are all the same question, just
asked different ways. I just want to
hear from you, what you think LOVE is.

Tell you why I'm asking after I hear your thoughts.

  1. I'm trying to figure that out myself. Last night I was thinking about it in fact. I think of the 3 questions you asked as different questions, yet having to do with the same topic. Maybe I'm just trying to complicate things for myself. I do tend to do that.

  2. Very good questions. I think that today's society views love as a feeling, the mushy gushy stuff. That is not love. Love is laying down your own selfish desires, wants, goals, to serve another. That is what marriage is about. Putting the me behind and putting your spouse's needs and desires first. That is what parenting is about too. In fact the Bible is very clear on what love is. It is not a feeling it is an action. Yes, the feeling is there. But the long lasting love is an action and must be cultivated. The more you die to your own wants the more love you are giving to those around you. Love is not easy.

  3. Love is sleeping in a chair by your infant son's hospital bedside for weeks because you want to be there in the middle of the night to suction his trach before he gets too agitated, or pat his chest when he's uncomfortable but may not set off an alarm to alert a nurse.

  4. Love is definitely an action and not always a feeling, although sometimes a feeling so deep that it hurts!

The greatest love is the love of Christ and His dying for our sins!

I agree with Jenna above. The love of a mother or father caring for their sick child is love shown beyond most loves. The willingness to give so much, knowing that you might not be able to get anything back in return.

I could go on and on, but I'm tired and too emotional, so I'm off to bed! Sleep tight!

Oh, and pray for Gavin please. He is in the hospital and not doing too well. It's breaking my heart to see him so sick! Thanks!

I hope Abby and the rest of your family is doing well! Love ya!

  5. Love is that fluttered feeling in your chest, it's the ability to move mountains when needed or rock a baby long past the time your arms got tired. To carry tiny burdens past the time your back got sore, to put the needs, wants and desires of another in front of yourself and feel good about doing it. It's something done and renewed moment by moment. Of course, with my husband it's a series of constantly seeing this person and realizing I can't live without him over and over again for new reasons that surprise me constantly.

  8. Tamara,

Just checking in on you and Abby! Praying that her seizures are subsiding and your family is all healthy!

Also, I'm dying to know about your question on what love is? I'm not a very patient person, don't you know?!

Thinking of you sweet friend! Have a great day!

  9. Just wanted to let you know that you and Abby Grace were lifted up in prayer today.

"Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.”

    In Christ's Love,

    Cindy
